YEP.
WE WENT THERE!
Because what is Canada Day without a discussion, creation, or consumption of poutine?
WHAT YOU NEED:
White, light brown, and dark brown Playdoh
Playdoh tools (rolling pin, knife)
Mini Canadian flags and Canada plates (both optional, but super fun!)
HOW TO MAKE:
Roll out a ball of light brown Playdoh. Use a knife to cut the Playdoh into strips! Make the strips as thick as you like, depending on your favourite variety of fries
Stack your “fries” on a plate or other working surface.
Rip up your white Playdoh into small pieces and sprinkle these on top of the fries like cheese curds.
Roll smaller bits of dark brown Playdoh and place these on top of the fries and cheese curds. THIS IS YOUR GRAVY!!!!
Stick a Canadian flag on top of your poutine for some additional, patriotic flare!
ACTIVITY EXTENSION:
Create a poutine menu! What varieties of poutine does your restaurant offer?
CONNECTION STARTERS:
Describe your perfect poutine!
Can you think of any other foods that are unique to Canada?
What are some examples of foods eaten in other countries?
If you could invent a new national dish for Canada, what would it be?!
THINGS TO CELEBRATE & ENCOURAGE:
using fine motor skills to manipulate the Playdoh
engaging in a sensory experience or quiet play
sharing materials
Wishing you a fabulous Canada Day weekend, with sweet dreams of a national fave!
Happy connecting! <3
XOXO,
Lindsay
