PLAYDOH DESSERT BOX

Updated: Oct 30

If you ever see “Playdoh” in the title of one of our posts, you can bet it was a wild morning that called from some sensory play! Playdoh – the ultimate game changer.

Take a look at the dessert box the girls created, filled up with yummy goodies!

WHAT YOU NEED:

  • Playdoh

  • rolling pin

  • cookie cutters

  • cupcake liners

  • beads, pom-poms, cupcake toppers or whatever else you have at home!

  • a box from the recycling bin! (our is from our new letterboard)

HOW TO MAKE:

  1. Encourage your kiddo(s) to create the sweetest treats they can imagine! Anything goes – chocolates, cupcakes, cookies, donuts, hard candies, etc. Treats can be placed in cupcake liners and decorated with small parts (e.g. beads), as desired!

  2. Assemble all treats into a box from the recycling bin!

ACTIVITY EXTENSIONS:

  • Make a special delivery to a family or friend’s home! We brought a small box of sweets to Nana and Grampy’s house and the girls delighted in the pictures they sent having tea later in the day.

  • Open a sweets shop! Create a logo and make a menu for your customers

CONNECTION STARTERS:

  • What is your favourite dessert?

  • Do you think certain desserts are more popular at different times of year?

  • Tell me more about the desserts you’ve created. (E.g. What type of treats did you make? What ingredients did you use?)

THINGS TO CELEBRATE & ENCOURAGE:

  • variety of Playdoh techniques (rolling, swirling, flattening, shaping, molding)

  • thoughtful design

  • sharing materials

I hope this activity makes your afternoon tea a wee bit sweeter Be sure to tag us @theartstadium so we can add some new desserts to our wish list!

Happy connecting!

XOXO,

Lindsay
