Nothing beats peg doll crafts and there's no convincing me otherwise! Always cute, always easy to extend with play, and always, always, always treasured by little hands. It's the ultimate craftivity.
WHAT YOU NEED:
peg dolls (cheapest are always from Dollarama, but you must grab them while you see them!)
googly eyes
black or brown felt
washi tape - we chose a variety of black prints!
black cardstock
fine tip black Sharpie
sequins
glittery markers
white glue
hot glue and glue gun
HOW TO MAKE:
I made these with kindergarten classes and at a gymnastics Halloween event. In both of these cases, it was easiest to glue on little felt ears and googly eyes, as well as draw on a face with a fine tip black Sharpie before inviting littles to join the fun. I also cut out different shapes and sizes of bat wings from black cardstock. If it was just me at home with the girls, the girls would do all of these steps :)
Invite artists to "adopt a peg doll bat". It just makes it more special and cuter...please see below ;)
Artists will wrap their peg doll bodies with washi tape. You can pre-cut strips of this, too, if it helps with management!
Artists use glittery markers to decorate their bat wings. Stripes, polka dots, hearts, shapes, anything goes!
Hot glue the wings onto the back side of the peg doll.
Because they aren't quite sparkly enough, invite artists to add sequins to the wings with white glue.
Allow to dry and then.....the ideas are endless! Hide them around your house during the month of October. Build a bat cave with building blocks, Lego, magnatiles or recycled materials! Add them to the Barbie house. It's a craft you can play with, so get at it! :)
