Olympics Bracelet

Updated: Oct 29

You know what your arm party needs? AN OLYMPICS BRACELET!

WHAT YOU NEED:

  • large popsicle sticks

  • pony beads

  • gold paint

  • paintbrush

  • jar

  • boiling water

  • hot glue gun & sticks

HOW TO MAKE:

  1. Place popsicle sticks in a pot of bowling water for approximately 30 minutes.

  2. Strain the popsicle sticks and - carefully! - form them into a circular shape by inserting them into the top of a glass jar. Smaller wrists may need a smaller jar - so be sure to assess sizing needs before leaving the sticks overnight to dry!

  3. Once the sticks are dry, remove them from the jar and give them a nice coat of gold paint! Let dry and apply additional coats of paint, as desired :)

  4. Use a hot glue gun to create the Olympic rings!

  5. Add it to your arm party and cheer on your country! :)

ACTIVITY EXTENSIONS:

  • Write inspirational quotes on the inside of your bracelet!

  • Add your country's flag to the bracelet with printed pictures and Modge Podge! Alternatively, draw your country's flag using Sharpie markers!

CONNECTION STARTERS:

  • What is your favourite sport to watch during the Olympics?

  • Which sport(s) would you like to try?

  • How do you think athletes prepare for the Olympics?

THINGS TO CELEBRATE & ENCOURAGE:

  • following safety rules around boiling water and hot glue gun

  • identifying Olympic ring colours

  • painting with care

I diggggggg the look! I think we'll try some of the activity extensions to jazz up our current Olympics bracelets! I can think of a few great quotes from Simone or Serena to write on the back :)

Happy connecting!

Lindsay
