We snuck this activity in right before everything started to melt! The sun is beautiful, but we’re happy this beauty happened first
I always scream “NO!!! DON’T!!!” when I hear of others tossing their flowers in the garbage/compost. Their lifetime can be extended by a creative activity (or two!) and this here is an example of how.
How stunning is this snow palace that Juliet created?
WHAT YOU NEED:
snow!
icicles or ice chunks
flowers (the ones that are wilting or drying out!)
mittens
HOW TO MAKE:
Prepare some of the materials in advance by cutting tops off wilting flowers.
Go on a hunt for ice chunks or icicles. We had so much fun collecting them from our garage roof!
Go on a hunt for “special rocks” or other treasures. We’re lucky to have gravel in the driveway
Find an area to build your ice palace.
Start by creating an entrance for the fairies
Decorate the palace as desired with the flowers and other collected materials.
ACTIVITY EXTENSION:
Write a mini “welcome!” message to the fairies
CONNECTION STARTERS:
What do you think fairies eat?
Can humans see fairies?
Do you have any favorite books or movies about fairies?
How do you think the fairies will react when they see the palace?
What do you think the fairies will do inside?
THINGS TO CELEBRATE & ENCOURAGE:
enjoying time outside, collecting treasures
sharing their vision and executing it!
encouraging others
We hope you have a smidgen of time left to enjoy a snow palace at your house! If not, be sure to save this one for next year
Happy connecting!
XOXO,
Lindsay
