We try to keep things fresh at the mud kitchen by introducing new menu items throughout the summer. This keeps the girlies engaged and – most importantly! – the customers coming!
Our latest item to hit the menu is Daisy Ice! Our regulars are loving it and new customers are flocking to the kitchen to give it a try
WHAT YOU NEED:
ice cube tray
daisies
water
freezer
HOW TO MAKE:
Go on a nature walk to collect daisies!
Fill an ice cube tray with water.
Remove the stems from each daisy and place one daisy in each water-filled compartment of the ice cube tray.
Freeze overnight.
ACTIVITY EXTENSIONS:
Make ice cubes using other types of flowers!
Create a mud kitchen menu, highlighting daisy ice cubes as the weekly special
CONNECTION STARTERS:
What is your favourite type of flower?
Do you think the daisies will change shape or color in the freezer? Why or why not?
What beverages or foods do you hope to make with your daisy ice cubes?
THINGS TO CELEBRATE & ENCOURAGE:
following family guidelines during nature walk (e.g. wearing hat or sunscreen, staying within a certain area, etc.)
helping to collect daisies
removing stems carefully (so as not to break off petals)
The girls used their daisy ice cubes to make some evening tea, but they had just as much fun watching the ice cubes melt slowly on the patio!
Tag us @theartstadium so we can see your daisy ice cubes too!
Happy connecting!
XOXO,
Lindsay
